Make Me Up is a new film by acclaimed Scottish artist Rachel Maclean, which marks 100 years since women were first given the right to vote in the United Kingdom.

This darkly-comic film takes a satirical look at the contradictory pressures faced by women today. As part of Visible Fiction's 25th Birthday celebrations, 27 writers were commissioned to write a one minute monologue about being a particular age between 0-25 (as well as a monologue about ‘time’). 

Phase 1 of this project was creating the short film ‘Now I Am’, exploring what it means to grow up, how our ‘number’ defines us and ultimately how small stories shape our lives. Phase 2 was the Monologues - each and every story in it’s entirety, filmed at the beautiful Kings Theatre delivered by actors who have worked with Visible Fictions over the past 25 years.
